INTRODUCTION: Hi! I’m Alejandro Alvarado and I’m here to capture moments in time. I’m based in Houston, TX, and have traveled the US, through my experience as an engineer and as a seminarian. In those experiences, I have been able to capture some moments in time and have added them to my shop. So take a look around and enjoy those moments!

ABOUT: I am an engineer by day and a photographer by hobby. As an engineer, I help communities by managing the way we move rainwater to our rivers and oceans. I help with the development of projects that manage flooding in neighborhoods, as well as help with projects that manage how we clean those floodwaters before they enter our waterways. One of the most recent projects I managed, involved bringing in my artistic eye to provide a foundation for a memorial for our Vietnam Veterans. As a partner in the engineering project, I helped with the daily decisions to make sure the monuments for the memorial had a sturdy foundation. As an artist, I visualized the monuments and realized that they needed a space that would help a visitor feel embraced within the Memorial. I look forward to continuing to bring these moments to life as I take photographs of my moments in time.

INSPIRATIONS AND GOALS: I chose to enter the world of engineering because of my love of viewing the stars. As a child, I wanted to become an astronaut, but wanting to do more, I later realized that I could probably help design space shuttles for us to see the stars from space. As I grew into my career, I found that I had a deeper passion for seeing our own planet, but from a closer view. I found myself purchasing a 35MM Minolta camera and started taking family pictures and taking pictures of wildlife. I then purchased a Nikon D3200 with a 300 mm zoom lens. I became fascinated with taking photos of birds and landscapes. It wasn’t until I entered seminary that I found the love of taking pictures of the insect world. Taking these pictures drove me to have a deeper passion for sustainable engineering, as I knew that the more green we had, the more insects would be around. Eventually, I began to see through the eyes of our pollinators and began to advocate for native plant life and the end of pesticide use. My goal, in life, is to save the earth, one pollinator garden at a time.

“I look forward to helping you with an amazing photoshoot or capturing the perfect photos for your home or business!”
